Careers & Volunteering

NeuralFin unites field science and AI to produce decision-grade evidence for shark conservation. We hire people who demonstrate exceptional rigour, technical depth and a conservation-first mindset.

We recruit selectively and fill roles to a high bar. Openings are posted on this page first; for updates, check back periodically or subscribe to our newsletter. Outside active searches, concise expressions of interest may be reviewed only when there’s a close match.

Focus areas include machine learning and computer vision, data science and ecology, backend/platform engineering, field research and partnerships, science communication and education, and product/design for scientific users.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s minimum; Honours/Masters/PhD or an equivalent record of impact preferred by role. Relevant disciplines include marine biology, shark ecology, fisheries science, ecology and oceanography; for technical roles, computer science, data science, statistics or software engineering. Core capabilities may include experimental design and statistics, database/API development, and ecological methods such as mark–recapture, site fidelity and movement analysis. For sea-going positions, an active Divemaster (or higher) certification and strong watermanship are advantageous. Data ethics and animal-welfare standards are non-negotiable.

Selection typically includes structured interviews, a role-relevant practical assessment and reference checks. Field roles require compliance with safety and permitting protocols.

We do not currently run a volunteering program.
