Careers & Opportunities
NeuralFin brings together shark science, conservation research, and research-supporting technical capability to produce scientifically credible and conservation-relevant work over time. The organisation recruits selectively and seeks individuals able to contribute with rigour, technical competence, sound judgement, and a clear commitment to high-quality shark and marine research. Roles are shaped by the needs of the organisation’s scientific programme and may span field research, ecological analysis, data systems, scientific communication, and other functions that strengthen the quality and continuity of the work.
Working at NeuralFin
Areas of current interest include machine learning and computer vision, data science and ecology, backend and platform engineering, field research and partnerships, science communication and education, and product or design roles that support scientific users. Depending on the role, successful candidates may bring strengths in marine biology, shark ecology, fisheries science, oceanography, software engineering, statistics, or research operations connected to field and conservation practice.
Current Focus Areas
Minimum and preferred qualifications vary by role, but NeuralFin generally seeks applicants with strong academic preparation, relevant technical or scientific capability, and the ability to work to a high standard within research-facing environments. Depending on the position, this may include experience in experimental design, statistics, ecological analysis, database or API development, mark-recapture methods, site fidelity assessment, or movement analysis. For field-based roles, appropriate diving certification, water competency, permitting awareness, and strict adherence to safety, animal-welfare, and data ethics standards are essential.
Standards and Qualifications
Selection typically involves structured interviews, role-relevant assessment, and reference checks. NeuralFin recruits selectively and reviews expressions of interest where there is a close alignment between an applicant’s expertise and the organisation’s current needs. Individuals wishing to register interest may do so by submitting a concise expression of interest outlining their area of focus, relevant experience, availability, and supporting links or materials where appropriate.
